Catalonia Trade & Investment is the Catalan Government’s agency in charge of boosting the competitiveness of Catalan economy, particularly regarding internationalisation, industrial innovation and investment attraction. Headquartered in Barcelona, Catalonia T&I operates from 40 offices around the world, covering more than 110 markets.
Automotive sector represents one of the most dynamic industry in Catalonia. It is one of Europe’s main vehicle manufacturing regions, one out of every four vehicles produced in Spain is produced in Catalonia. It generates an annual turnover of around €15,5 M (12% of the total industrial turnover) and a production of 550.000 cars and 35.000 motorcycles a year.
The Barcelona area and Catalonia are attracting new activities within the field of future mobility concepts. A critical mass of R&D centers and universities focused on the automotive industry are working together to develop innovative technologies for more efficient electric vehicles. Catalonia is also home to top manufacturers of batteries, EV-charging stations, software, sensors and the whole wide array of products which enable e-Mobility and autonomous driving.
